Version 4 of Remsearch introduces a major extension - the Remsearch Finder plugin. This is installed automatically with the component, but needs to be enabled to take effect. If that is done, searches will take information from the finder database tables, in addition to anything returned by search plugins. This means that Remsearch can be operated with a mix of source - extensions that have enabled finder and do not have search plugins, and extensions where use of a search plugin is preferred.

Remsearch was the standard Joomla search component, now upgraded to work in Joomla 4 through to 6, along with a set of search plugins and a search module. The Remository search plugin is installed as part of Remository. Remsearch installs search plugins for the usual standard Joomla components. Search plugins are not enabled by default - you should enable the ones you want to be active. Version 3.1 had a fix for Joomla 6 and is a component that also installs plugins and a module. This replaces the previous package, but produces the same results. Version 2.5 adds support for Kunena. Version 2.4 fixes a bug in URL formation that affected breadcrumb in search results.
