All new releases of Remository and Glossary now REQUIRE use of PHP5. This version of PHP was released in 2004, has been mature for some time, and is now available from most hosts. It permits significantly better software to be written. Taking advantage of the PHP5 features enables Remository and Glossary to be substantially improved, but means that they will not run on PHP4. Old versions will remain available, although they will receive only limited suport in future. Most people should select software from this section, looking carefully for the version that you want. The division below this one is between Joomla! 1.5+ versions, Aliro versions, and other CMS versions. The other CMS that are supported are MiaCMS, Mambo and Joomla! 1.0.x. Please select the one that fits your system, as each one requires different packaging of the software, and choosing the wrong package will lead to problems! |

Within this area, versions of software for PHP4 are kept. Note that no further development is likely on PHP4 versions, which provided purely to support anyone who is still runng PHP4, or for software that has not yet been released in a PHP5 version. Software in this area is not necessarily compatible with software in the PHP5 area, and you should try to run the same version (or the newest available version) in most cases. Continuing to run PHP4 is not recommended. For some time, the preferred option has been PHP5 (originally released in 2004). Now that support for PHP4 is discontinued and most hosting services make PHP5 available, it no longer makes sense to restrict software by developing for PHP4. PLEASE NOTE: The lower level groupings here are distorted by history and the desire to avoid more changes to folder names than absolutely necessary, because with SEF changes will break links. Therefore, the heading "Joomla" refers to software specifically for Joomla! 1.5+. Software for Joomla! 1.0.x is included in the "Mambo" area, since the same packages could be run on both systems. Software in this area will also run on MiaCMS, although in all cases the PHP5 versions are preferred. |
