language issue of Remository v3.54 - 2012/03/07 03:38 Today I tested Remository v3.54 on both Joomla 1.5.25 and Joomla 2.5.2 .

To my surprise, this version of Remository can not load my native language file (simplified_chinese.php) on either of them!

Though I had already choose zh-CN (simplified Chinese) as the default language for both backend and frontend, Remository still show me in English !

I am sure this is a bug. Please fix it, thanks.

Re:language issue of Remository v3.54 - 2012/03/10 13:17 I noticed that Remository v3.54 has an option named "Force_Language" in configuration. I tried to input "simplified_chinese", but no effect. Then I input "simplified_chinese.php" and save, nothing changed, next time I enter the configuration page, I noticed that my former input was saved as "simplified_chinese.p" , where is the "hp" part of that filename?

Maybe I don't know the right usage of Force_Language option. Could you please give me some help?

Thanks.

Re:language issue of Remository v3.54 - 2012/03/10 21:55 The problem is that Remository is assuming that Joomla operates with UTF-8 but there is no UTF-8 version of the simplified Chinese language file.

Assuming you're using UTF-8, what needs to be done is to convert the existing simplified Chinese language file to UTF-8 and to store it in the language directory with the name prefixed by utf.

Re:language issue of Remository v3.54 - 2012/03/11 04:14 I tried this trick: copy my existing simplified_chinese.php to utf.simplified_chiense.php , and make sure it is utf-8 encoded (in fact both the original simplified_chinese.php was already utf-8 encoded when it was born).

Yes, I left this new utf-prefixed file in the same folder (language), and then I cleared site cache, and refreshed my frontend, but Remository still in English ! It's backend is in English too.

This problem confused me a lot. Could you please check it with a Chinese Joomla installation? You can download one from:

http://www.joomlagate.com/download/joomla-core/joomla25-core-chinese/

Choose "zh-CN" language when installing, and remember to install the default sample data (Chinese), then you will get a complete Chinese Joomla 2.5.2 installation with zh-CN language as the default.

Thanks.
