Cannot install 3443j on J 1.5.3. - 2008/05/15 19:48 Try to install Remository 3443J on Joomla 1.5.3 but when starting the install/upload after a while I get the following message:
JFTP::write: Unable to use passive mode
Unable to write entry
used the tar-version for upload.
Any idea what I can do?
Other module/components install just fine.

What do I have to change to properly install remository under Joomla 1.5.3?

1st try, FTP disabled, file for upload is Remository3443J[1].tar.gz

* Warning! - Failed to move file
* Unable to write archive



Warning: file_put_contents() failed to open stream: Permission denied in /www/htdocs/rvccmc/joomla/libraries/joomla/utilities/compat/php50x.php on line 66

2nd try, FTP disabled, file for upload is Remository344.tar (which was inside the gz file)


* Warning! - Failed to move file
* JFolder::create: Could not create directory
* Unable to create destination

Interessting enough remository is not the first component/module that I install on 1.5.3. and all other pieces installed just easy and without any hick ups. So what is the problem here.
Joomla is installed in a subfolder write below the root. Permission on joomla folder is 0777, all folders below have 0755.
So what can I do?

Re:Cannot install 3443j on J 1.5.3. - 2008/05/25 22:04 Check the ownership of the folders in your Joomla installation. The permission is relative to who owns the file or directory. If you find the ownership is mixed between something like nobody, www, apache on one hand, and something that looks your owner name that indicates a possible problem. Martin Brampton aka Counterpoint

All my other components have installed without any problems. :/

even tryed to unpack the gz.file and try to install the tar.
Nothing worked.

p.s. it is error 500

Other installations work fine.

I've tryed to unpack the gz so i could change it to a zip file. But there is an error saying "file is damaged"
during the unpack.

Re:Cannot install 3443j on J 1.5.3. - 2008/06/08 22:19 Remository is a large and complex component. I don't think comparisons with other installations are relevant. The problems of installation are in Joomla 1.5.x and PHP. Joomla is using very recently released PHP archive handling services that appear to be buggy. The bugs are not universal, but depend on the exact software stack installed. So I can install Remository from either zip or tar.gz without a problem. Some people have a problem with zip, some with tar.gz.

What utility is being used that shows the file as damaged? I can unarchive the current Remository 3.44.3J (downloaded from the site) using Zip Genius with no problem.

I will shortly (probably tomorrow) post a zip version of Remository 3.44.3. So far, nobody has been unable to install BOTH zip and tar.gz versions!

If you don't want to wait, I suggest expanding the tar.gz archive and then zipping it.
