user unpublish / versioning - 2007/03/26 20:28 just something that would be handy:

allow the uploader to unpublish the file, and / or upload a newer version of it. one of the sim racing sites i frequent has a great upload setup. you first give the upload a version, then the info, then you upload the file. previous versions can be unpublished.

this gives content creators a way to upload the current version, and make sure the older versions are taken off line. this is very important in sim racing, where everyone has to have the same files to race online together.

this addition would really be a major help to sites like mine that need versioning and uploaded content control.

and i still need to be able to re-order my categories

Re:user unpublish / versioning - 2007/03/29 11:36 The uploader already can upload a new version of the file. There is no versioning automatically provided, but the user is free to change the descriptive information (including version). This feature can be enabled or disabled through the admin config.

Ordering categories is not a simple issue, there is little agreement on how it should be done.

Re:user unpublish / versioning - 2007/04/03 21:36 how about just offering options to sort them alphabetically, or to manually order them.

all i want is to be able to say this is cat 1 this is cat 2 etc. we don't need sorting, just manual control over which one is first, second, etc.

and i still would like for users to be able to delete stuff they upload. make it an option you can turn off by default, and give 3 or 4 warning dialogs

anyway, thanks for at least taking the time to talk about this.

Re:user unpublish / versioning - 2007/04/09 09:20 Containers are ordered alphabetically. You can force the order by the choice of names. Some people have hacked Remository so as to allow an ordering code at the start of the name that is not actually displayed - there is discussion of this somewhere in the forum.

The option to permit submitters to delete their own files will be in a future version.
