Re:Parse error - 2006/11/20 18:10 That's hard to understand! If there is a parse error in Glossary, I'd expect everybody to get it. What version of PHP are you using? Have you tried downloading Glossary again? Martin Brampton aka Counterpoint

Re:Parse error - 2006/11/21 20:03 Hi,

I just setuped a new Server with Windows 2003, IIS6, PHP 5.2 and 5.0.27.

The file isn't corrupted. I reinstalled the component with the same result.

It was working fine on my old host under unix, but I have the parse error on the new server. Everything other is working (I have many other component and module installed)

Thanks

Edit: For record, the Glossary search bot work perfectly and show the records, but if I click the word found, I got a parse error.

Edit2: I just removed every custom code and put the orriginal file back. The error is the same, but the line is 468, if it could help you.

I also have the same error in admin.glossary.php on line 494

Re:Parse error - 2006/11/22 00:26 I have found the problem !!! (after hours of troubleshoot)

register_globals need to be On in php.ini

if I turn if off, I get the prase error.

For now It wil do the trick, but it would be nice if you could take a look at this in future release.

Re:Parse error - 2006/11/22 15:12 Sorry, I don't know what to look for! A PARSE error that occurs when register_globals is set off but doesn't occur when it is set on makes no sense. And it doesn't occur at all in a Linux environment. The statement referred to is a close curly bracket! The only possible parse error is that the brackets don't balance - but then surely that would be the same regardless of environment changes? Glossary quite definitely doesn't rely on register_globals being on, and makes little use of globals. In any cases, register_globals affects the runtime environment, it's not at all clear how it could affect a parse error. This is quite mysterious Martin Brampton aka Counterpoint

Re:Parse error - 2006/11/24 14:27 I know it's strange

On the unix server, the register_globals is on. I did set it to "on" on the windows server and all error disappeared. I didn't changed anything else.

I just tried again and made register_globals to off in php.ini, same problem come back... Strange isn't it ?

I looked at the code and there is no extra bracket. I even tried to remove it, then it complain about the else fallowing it. It's just a strange thing.

Anyway, I will let it on since it solve my problem.
