Download directory - 2006/09/04 12:54 3.40.rc2

I have chosen NO for Store files in database

Uploads land in the folder /mambo/downlods/uploads with a bunch numbers added to the file name. When I then approve and publish the files vanish (goes into the database I'll guess) and will not be visible in /downloads Is the a bug or feature? When I check NO I would assume that the files will be visible.

Re:Download directory - 2006/09/04 18:11 The option to stop files being stored in the database is not effective for containers that have already been created when the flag is set. It only affects newly created containers. For existing containers, you have to make a valid entry in the "absolute path" field if you want files stored in the file system. Re:Download directory - 2006/09/04 20:15 If I for some reason want all files to be stored as plain files how should I do?

1 Install reMOSitory
2 Create folders if they don't exsist already and make them 777 (or less, what is minimum? New to UNIX)
3 Set the configuration
4 Create containers

What happens if I set the storage place to YES? Will some files go to the database and some won't?

Re:Download directory - 2006/09/05 15:56 Usually, installing Remository will create all the directories that are needed. But it does depend on your hosting configuration.

Unfortunately hosting and permissions is a complicated subject (I set my directories to 705 but that may not work for you). If you would like to know a lot more about the issues, you can read my paper on the subject.

Whether files go to the database or the file system is an option set individually for each container. But Remository does provide facilities to make setting up easier. When you set the path for a container, you can ask for it to be stored in child containers too. Also, if you set the flag saying that the default location is NOT the database, then any new container will be given the standard download location is its path if you do not enter one.
