users instead of user groups - 2006/07/23 17:54 hi there, i was wondering if it can be configed for individual users, rather than user groups?

I create client sites as it is now, each one only being able to view their own files. These are design concepts, project notes etc.

Is there a way that i can assign certain pages or folders to individuals, rather than groups?

Re:users instead of user groups - 2006/07/24 12:49 You can have groups, each of which only contains one user! Comes to the same thing. If you wanted it automated, that would be a custom mod Martin Brampton aka Counterpoint

Re:users instead of user groups - 2006/07/31 03:15 sorry for the delay in reply.
Thank you for your help, is there a limit to how many groups you can create?

We can simply hook certain pages to that group correct? and once that client 'group' is logged in, they will be able to view the pages that belong to them?

thanks again

Re:users instead of user groups - 2006/08/01 11:24 You can create as many users and groups as you like, except that the user interface (having lists of users and groups shown on the screen) will become unusable at some point.

Users can be in multiple groups, but you can only specify single group to control access to a Remository container.

Whenever a user is logged in, then their group membership(s) will influence Remository's access control.

Re:users instead of user groups - 2006/08/01 14:50 I am wondering. I am using Joomla 1.0.10 and Mambotheme Groups, but this won't work anymore, it tells me: You are not authorized or something.

Does 3.4.0 RC1 utilize a group access module or does it rely on MBT Groups as well?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Re:users instead of user groups - 2006/08/01 15:17 So far, all versions of Remository rely on Mambotheme Groups. The owner of the mambotheme web site created Remository EXT in order to add group capabilities, but this created an incompatible fork of the main Remository development. To overcome that, the new work was pulled out of Remository EXT to make Mambotheme Groups, and Remository was modified to interface to it.

I guess it is probably time the group logic was integrated into the main Remository development - some time soon!

Could you give more details on exactly where the problem arises? I think this may be to do with recent changes to Joomla.
