Audio/Video Playback - 2008/04/08 05:21
How about having a audio/video player for remository.
I hav few mp3, mid, wav, 3gp, mp4 files... it would be nice to hav a small PLAY button for preview for audio/video in a FLV player or any player...

Rough code is already in Remository - it is a question of time to complete and publish it

Re:Audio/Video Playback - 2008/07/04 02:14
ok, I also support this idea.
I suggest to use existing mambot/plugin to handle these multimedia files, such as All Vidoes plugin, or DenVideo, etc.
This will reduce the work you need to do.

Re:Audio/Video Playback - 2008/07/04 07:27
Today I found some code relating to video embeding in line 39 of file components/com_remository/v-classes/remositoryFileInfoHTML.php , so I think the author is developing this.
But, why re-create the wheel? Why not just let those existing mambot/plugins take effect inside Remository?

Re:Audio/Video Playback - 2008/07/04 07:44
you are right... we can use the existing plugins..
but core developers does not depend on other plugin... and stuffs... coz if they update their plugin some issues might be there...
so author may think developing own plugins will be safe and there will not be any problem in future...
this is just my way of thinking...
who know wat is in authors mind...

The problem with invoking content plugins is that there is no satisfactory interface standard for them, so results are unpredictable.

You are right. Unless Joomla! has its built-in players.
Then you have to do many programming to make your own.
Thanks for your efforts.

Re:Audio/Video Playback - 2009/01/22 19:19
Is it possible to see playback feature in Remository next 2-3 years? What is the stage of development? Do we have hope that it will be in future?
I have an idea: If embedding flash-player is complicated, maybe better and easier way is to make the playlist generator? For example, you have two icons – save and play. One gives you filename.mp3 and other – filename.m3u Than your default player will pick up the stream.

Re:Audio/Video Playback - 2009/03/18 09:24
There are two problems:
1. If you enable both play and download functions, then the visitor will see a "Download" link only after he clicks on the "Play" link. Thus the visitor will not be able to download the file without listening. Suggestion: Make links "Play" and "Download" on the same page.
2. The button "Stop" in the xspf-player does not stop downloading the file in the cache buffer. As a result, if a visitor wants to stop playback and download the file, the player will continue to use the buffer traffic. Suggestion: Instead of "Play" link to show the player without autoplay or make links "Play" and "Download" on the same page. I also suggest to support onepixelout player.

Re:Audio/Video Playback - 2009/08/18 20:34
hey martin,
i'm attempting to incorporate my flash jukebox into miaCMS.
is it possible for a flash movie to interact with a component?
i want flash to display as a module in the content area, and also be able to interact with the database, ideally using Mambo's system.
to start with, the following code seems to be preventing access:
defined( '_VALID_MOS' ) or die( 'Direct Access to this location is not allowed.' );
thanks.

Re:Audio/Video Playback - 2009/08/18 21:55
That code is for protection against direct execution. In general, code files are not intended to be run by someone putting in a URI pointing to them, they are meant to be called through a system that imposes various checks. Early in the Mambo processing, the symbol _VALID_MOS is defined, and so anything that is called within Mambo will pass that test.

Re:Audio/Video Playback - 2009/08/18 22:19
is there a way for a flash file to be "within Mambo"? is that just a matter of it being officially "Installed" and listed in the component's com_yourname.xml file?
