You may find that the latest release of Remository will run in Joomla 1.6. But it will not be fully supported in Joomla 1.6 until it is GA. Supporting a Joomla system during beta and RC phases is an inefficient use of time.
Remository already requires PHP 5, and the next major release will require 5.2.3 plus. Remository will run on all later released versions of PHP. The code is progressively taking advantage of PHP 5 features.
What Joomla 1.6 features did you have in mind? I haven't seen anything (e.g. in Andrew Eddie's presentation) in Joomla 1.6 that would offer particular performance or functionality benefits for Remository.
Although there is major work going on for future Remository releases. At present this is concentrating on technical issues, including rebuilding the mechanisms for handling stored files. The technical work will also improve efficiency. Substantial changes on the UI will follow, both admin and user side.
