How to setup mass mail to group - 2010/07/09 13:31 Hello

I'm new in yoo and remository, and I need to turn on ( if it is possible) mass mail to group (assigned to chosen container ) when admin upload new file to repo.

I saw that in backend admin list for groups is empty column for group email.

if it's impossible from general settings, how to do it ?

sorry for my bad English...

please help

Re:How to setup mass mail to group - 2010/07/20 12:03 Hello
I want to know how you solved your problem about a mass mail to a group created in remository when a user sends a file. I don't know PHP but (if it's possible) I could put the code inside the right file.
Can you send please the code and the file name where I have to do the operation?
Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks
It would be fantastic to solve my problem.
Remository covers every my problem except this one.
Thanks a lot.

Re:How to setup mass mail to group - 2010/07/22 10:31 The code is actually all there in Remository, SFAIK.

If you edit the file ../components/com_remository/com_remository_constants.php and change the define:

Code:

  DEFINE('_REMOSITORY_EMAIL_ACCESSORS'0);

from a zero to a 1, then when a file is first approved and published, or subsequently modified, all the people who can download it will be mailed.

You may also want to adjust the language file definitions of _DOWN_MAIL_MESSAGE_PREFIX _DOWN_NEW_UPDATED_MSG _DOWN_NEW_OR_UPDATED in your language file to modify the contents of the email.

Re:How to setup mass mail to group - 2010/07/22 11:18 First of all thanks a lot

I tried to do how you told me in your answer.

I changed the parameter in the file com_remository_constants.php from 0 to 1 but when I sent a file I had this message:

Impossible to execute the function mail (translated from italian).

Do you have an advice?

Thanks

Re:How to setup mass mail to group - 2010/07/23 18:35 Is that a PHP message? A CMS message? Is there any more context? Martin Brampton aka Counterpoint

Re:How to setup mass mail to group - 2010/07/25 00:45 I think it's a CMS message. The message appears in the remository window, the window where usually the written "File trasmitted" (tanslated from italian) appears after you have sent a file.

No, it's a remote server where there's my website.

Thanks

Re:How to setup mass mail to group - 2010/08/05 22:38 It is difficult to be sure, because I have only the standard Joomla distribution to search. It is not obvious what kind of error that is.

It could be the error that in English is 'Could not instantiate the mail function'.

If that is so, it indicates that the call to the PHP mail function did not work, and suggests that your PHP mail mechanism may not be set up correctly.

Re:How to setup mass mail to group - 2010/08/19 16:10 What does it mean?
Have I to modify the code in php.ini?

Re:How to setup mass mail to group - 2010/08/22 17:00 It means something is wrong with the setup of your PHP installation. You may need to consult your hosting provider to ask for the PHP mail function to be made to work. Martin Brampton aka Counterpoint

Re:How to setup mass mail to group - 2010/08/23 14:01 OK.
I have solved my problem changing the code in php.ini file and in particular changing the parameters in the sector mail function. I have substituted "localhost" with my mail server name. Now everything works.
Thanks a lot to everyone. You have been very important to solve my problem.
Bye bye.
