Content Plugin behaviour on Aliases - 2010/07/21 15:40 My implementation of Glossary is primarily being used to provide clarification of abbreviations and acronyms that we commonly use in our forum discussions.

Currently the alisases function for the popup works fine, but could be enhanced thusly:

Term: Blackbaud
Alias: BB
Definition: Developer of fundraising software for nonprofits.

If the plugin catches Blackbaud then the definition reads correctly as "Developer of fundraising software for nonprofits"

If the plugin catches the alias (in this case an acronym) I'd like to see it append the full term and display "Blackbaud - developer of fundraising software for nonprofits"

This could be a default function for all aliases or I suppose a new field of acronym or abbreviation could be added to the form when a term is submitted.

Thoughts?

Re:Content Plugin behaviour on Aliases - 2010/07/30 11:30 Hi, it would be very good if the term could be shown in addition to the definition. As you say, it is not always obvious from the alias, especially for abbreviations. In the earlier versions, the popup always showed the term as the title of the popup.

I had a look at the code a few months ago (when 2.7 was in beta testing) and it may not be too difficult to implement that the term is always shown. When I have time, I have a go at it, as I would also prefer it that way. More difficult is it to make distinction to show it only when the alias is used.
