Odd Component Alignment - 2010/06/06 12:36 Hello and good morning.

I have an odd problem with the template I am using. I am not sure if it is a css conflict or what it may be.

The Glossary component shows up on only half the page body and I am not sure why this is. I do know it is related to the templates though. The only template it seems to work perfectly on is JA_Purity.

See image below for what it looks like.

Any idea what it might be? I have gone through the css for both my template and the Glossary and I cannot find any one entry that is the same. I see that you have made each css entry Glossary specific, so I am at a wee bit of a loss.

I have tried both the older version and the new beta. Same thing on both versions.

Peace,
Sarrene'

Re:Odd Component Alignment - 2010/06/06 23:50 Hello again, I just noticed a js error as well on the site using the Glossary.

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; InfoPath.2; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729)

Message: Syntax error
Line: 1
Char: 1
Code: 0
URI: http://avigraphic.com/test3/components/com_glossary/nicetitle.js

This shows up in both firefox and ie. Odd thing though is that this js erorr is showing up on all pages, not only the Glossary page. Might this be related to a plugin that I have not enabled or it is trying to "read"?

I still cannot figure out the weird alignment issue either. Any and all help is more then welcome.

Thank you so much for your time and help,
Sarrene'

Re:Odd Component Alignment - 2010/06/08 14:40 The JavaScript problem relates to the Glossary content plugin, which is why it affects pages other than the Glossary component. Thanks for pointing it out, I've fixed it for the latest Glossary 2.7 RC now available for download.

Page layout problems are best resolved by using Firefox and the Web Developer (by Chris Pederick) add-on and working through the HTML (which can be laborious for some templates) to find what part of the CSS is creating the effect that is wrong.

ADDED COMMENT: Sorry, I was mixing myself up there. The Web Developer add-on is very useful, but it is the Firebug add-on that will give most help to resolve styling and presentation issues.
