search within stored docs? - 2009/10/16 12:50 This may be a silly question, but I want to know whether the search facilities in Remository would enable the front end user to search the actual content of stored documents (which will probably be in Word format). A client is asking for this facility, but I am doubtful it can be done with this or any other software....
Thanks very much for any tips - and sorry if this has already been asked - I did try to search.

Re:search within stored docs? - 2009/10/20 12:24 Having tested this, with and without the search plugin, and storing uploaded files in the database, I conclude that uploaded documents can't be searched. Only the descriptive fields can. Should this be the case??
Cheers

Re:search within stored docs? - 2009/10/23 17:26 Yes. Until recently there was no suitable open source software for looking inside proprietary formats such as Microsoft Word. That is now changing, but I have not had time to incorporate anything like that into Remository.

However, Remository will work with Scribd which provides a way to show the data within a file of that kind, which may help you.
