ReMOSef 3.20 ? - 2005/11/16 18:54 Hi
Pls, it is possible to receive more details how to use ReMOSef 3.20?
1. Install com_remosef
2. Enable SEF in mambo configuration
3. To rename the htaccess.txt in .htaccess or do NOT rename the htaccess.txt (in root)?
4. It is possible to use with usual SEF or with SEF Advanced only?
and etc.

Will whether work in Mambo the method "Using SEF without mod_rewrite", suggesting for J!1.1? - look a topic http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,1094.from0/topicseen.html#new

Re:ReMOSef 3.20 ? - 2005/11/16 20:04 1) Make sure that you have basic Mambo SEO working correctly before attempting anything else. The provided .htaccess MAY be helpful, but you have to think about how it will interact with any other uses of .htaccess. There is much material at http://forum.mamboserver.com to support this step.

2) If you have done that, and have already installed SEF Advance (or it seems 404 SEF uses the same interface, maybe others do, I don't know), then you should be able to simply install the ReMOSef plugin version in order to get SEF URLs for Remository.

3) If you do not have anything such as SEF Advance installed, but have achieved (1) above, then simply install ReMOSef component. Carefully check the sef.custom.php file for any required changes. Bear in mind different character sets may need more translation in order to achieve valid URLs.

4) Any advanced SEF replaces the standard Mambo SEF, but it is always best to ensure the standard Mambo SEF is working before going further.

Re:ReMOSef 3.20 ? - 2005/11/17 17:02 Thank for explanations.

I have tested "Using SEF without mod_rewrite":

1. Enable SEF in mambo configuration
2. do NOT rename the htaccess.txt
3. open /includes/sef.php and change this line: (~ line 242)
return $mosConfig_live_site."/".$string;
to
return $mosConfig_live_site."/index.php/".$string;

For me it works OK.
Whether you can recommend it to use or there can be problems?

Re:ReMOSef 3.20 ? - 2005/12/09 02:56 So far as I can see, it should work fine. The only limitation is that it does not produce as neat a URL as other methods. Martin Brampton aka Counterpoint
