 bad zip file ermository 320 ? - 2005/07/19 14:36 First of all thanks for your email. Now I downloaded the file from the new website. But it isn't working.
I open it with winzip 8.1 an get this error-message.

not valid archive:

End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a Zip file, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part Zip file.


What's wrong. Can you help me?

Unrecoverable error "PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10)"

Indeed, there seems to be a problem with the ZIP-file! Won't open with IZArc either. "You can call me Al."

Re:bad zip file ermository 320 ? - 2005/07/19 18:54 Strange. Works every time for me! Makes it difficult to diagnose th problem. What exactly are you getting, Al? Do you get part of a file - if so, how big? Any other clues? What happens if you say OPEN rather than SAVE - does it get opened successfully? Martin Brampton aka Counterpoint

Cannot open file. it oes not ppear to be a valid archive.
If downloaded this fil try to download this file again.


But today on another PC. I was able to open it with winRAR. But the installation failed in mambo..

Re:bad zip file ermository 320 ? - 2005/07/19 20:25 The file I get is 318,330 Bytes large. It doesn't matter whether I open or save the file. FF and IE produce the same results. If you send me the file by mail I can check if there is a difference between the one downloaded and the one mailed. This somehow reminds me of the problems we experienced in March. Meanwhile, I have rejigged the site to deliver the downloads from disk rather than the database. Should be working now (it certainly is for me, but that doesn't seem to prove anything!).

Thought the database file serving was working, but there seem to be some problems. I'll try to figure them out offline in a test site.

The download still doesn't work here.

Re:bad zip file ermository 320 ? - 2005/07/19 21:23 Well, wouldn't you know it, the simple things always cause the most trouble. What you've found in the file is near the beginning, and is the result of a diganostic statement that accidentally got left in.

I was looking for differences at the end of the file (because of the problems we had before) then wondering whether the stuff at the beginning was something to do with the headers or some such. Of course, it was just a result of a silly mistake!

The system is now running on database downloads again, and I hope it is finally working correctly. Sorry for all the bother! Martin Brampton aka Counterpoint
