Search by Category and... - 2009/02/27 00:10 Hello there,

Congrats about this fantastic component. I have some questions though...

Is it possible to make a search by category (using the internal search)? Its somethign that Docman has it and it is very usefull.

Also, how can I change the way the search results are shown? I want to have the full "category path" next to the title of my file, on the search results page. What I mean... For example my file is savvas.jpg and is located in Photos/Personal/Mine category. So after I made a search for the word "savvas" the result should be showing "Savvas Photo - Photos/Personal/Mine" instead of "Savvas Photo - Mine" that is showing now.

Thanks in advance

Re:Search by Category and... - 2009/02/27 14:52 It's worth thinking about. It's less clear how it should work for Remository than Docman, since Remository has a much more flexible container system, with arbitrary depth of nesting.

Showing the path to files in search results could be made a configuration option (although the configuration is in danger of becoming too complex). It would not work for everyone, as some repositories have long container names and a deep structure, so the path would become excessively long.

Re:Search by Category and... - 2009/02/27 15:02 Hello,

Is there a "dirty" fix to add the path at the search results? It will help me a lot with my site

Re:Search by Category and... - 2009/04/02 17:15 I had suggested to show the search box on the top of each page in Remository component. I think these two features can be combined together.

Just beside the search box input field, show a dropdown list, let the visitor choose Search Current Category or Search Entire Download Area.

When the visitor viewing different file/category in the download area, then that Current Category will also change. That means the search result will be different.

Thanks.

Re:Search by Category and... - 2011/04/18 10:49 Just to add my comments to this suggestion:

I think a Search by Container is neccessary. We are using this for our Intranet (as of very recently) and have a large number of containers. For users to have to 'uncheck' loads of boxes each time they want to search is frustrating.

There must be somewhere in the code, something that tells all the container checkboxes to be in a 'Checked' state when you click the 'Search Repository' box? Could this not be used so that when you are in Container A, and click on 'Search Repository' then only the 'Container A' checkbox is checked?

When you click Submit, there is some variable passed to show that you wish to submit to that container. Could this variable not be passed to the search form and used to check the boxes?

I'm not a coder by any stretch, but would have thought that these 2 variables could be used in combination?

Thanks
