pathway... - 2008/11/13 15:13 Hi all,

when I click on menu item 'downloads' I would like to see the pathway showing home*downloads and filelisting showing all the files in the top level category (downloads) and its childs

my categories:
downloads (top level)
- build mode (has childs)
- buy mode (has childs)
- homecrafter (has childs)
etc

menu item downloads is an external link to the top level category

problem is that the pathway shows as home*downloads*downloads

if I change the menu item to an internal link linking to remository while I now have the pathway look as desired (home*downloads) only category list would show but not filelisting

any idea what I could do to get the desired combination mentioned above?

would I maybe need to adjust function show CMSpathway?

Re:pathway... - 2008/11/25 10:00 I guess this is because you have a single top level container, that is now bypassed (by popular request) when Remository is entered at the top level. So you are getting one pathway entry for Remository itself and one for the top level container.

The answer seems to be that Remository should ignore the top level container if it is the only top level container. The tricky thing is to figure out where in the code to do this. Certainly the pathway methods would be part of it.

Probably combined with a call to remositoryContainerManger. Since all containers are read (one big SQL operation instead of potentially many small SQL operations - especially when SEF is in use on links created by modules) the cost of asking remositoryContainerManager to return all the top level containers just to count them is quite small.

I'll try to include this into version 3.47.

Re:pathway... - 2008/11/25 12:23 sorry to say so but I'm a bit confused about what you are saying

I have added a second top level category to see what happens but my external link to 'downloads' still makes pathway show iup as home*downloads*downloads instead of home*downloads

Re:pathway... - 2008/11/26 09:04 Do you have a container called "downloads"? After home, you will get a pathway entry for the Remository component. Next you will get a top level container, next a second level container, and so on.

If you look at what happens here, where the top level containers are things like Mambo Software, Joomla Software, you get pathways like Home > Downloads > Joomla Software (where "Downloads" is the Remository component and will show a list of the top level containers).

In a case like this site, there's no reason to skip any of the pathway entries. I'm guessing that your problem comes from having a container called "downloads" that you don't want to show. But tell me if I'm mistaken!

Re:pathway... - 2008/11/28 11:07 yes I do have a top level container called 'downloads'. and I think I undestand now what my problem is. if I would rename the respective top level container to something else, eg 'files' I would like the pathway to being displayed as

home * my files

as opposed to

home * downloads * my files

thus I think what I'm trying to achieve is preventing the component to being shown in pathway. would that be possible at all?
