Re:Multiple installations? - 2007/11/09 20:37
I think I have a solution for this need. We are using the repository for multiple commitees and also would like to have multiple 'areas' for different groups. To resolve this, we created the multiple 'areas' as top level containers. Under each container we created sub-containers (or sub folders) for each of the containers that WOULD have been top level.
By accessing the main repository and then drilling down into one of the top level containers, we could copy the URL out of the address bar. We then created a menu link that pointed to that URL. When a user clicks the menu item, they are immediately taken into the container - making it appear as if they accessed a unique area! From here they can open sub containers. By controlling the permissions on the containers and the permissions on the various menu items, we created an environment that appears to have multiple Remositories.
The only problem at this point is that there is a link at the top of the Remository that lets the user navigate back to the HOME container. This is NOT a security issue because permissions would keep the user from accessing continairs that they are not allowed to see. It is only a visual problem... possibly confusing visitors. I will be looking into the possibility of making that top link go away. SO STAY TUNED.
