How to give access, an error maybe? - 2005/08/02 14:46 why when visitors or users "logged" enters remository it appears the message:

Sorry, the Repository is not available to casual visitors - please login

The categories displays "public" in the access column.

Re:How to give access, an error maybe? - 2005/08/02 15:53 Which version are you using?

I don't think there is a completely general problem of this nature. I've just revisited a test site running 3.20 beta 3 and it shows a set of categories to a visitor (not logged in). Likewise, the Black Sheep Research site (running the only slightly different provisional 3.20 beta 4) shows categories to visitors.

One thing that could possibly create the situation you describe would be if your categories have the visitors setting set to "upload only". This would show as public (since there is some public access) in the category list, but would not allow for download.

The display should also be affected by the Remository config options " See_Containers_no_download" and "See_Files_no_download". Even if containers are not available for visitor download, if these are set to YES, then the message you quote should not be displayed.

Certainly it is possible that there is a fault! But if there is, I will need more information. Would you be willing to let me have a temporary admin login to have a closer look? I'd like to resolve this.

Re:How to give access, an error maybe? - 2005/08/02 15:54 Actually, there is another possibility. Categories must be published if anyone is to see them. Could you check that they are all published?

I think it may be best to alter beta 4 before it is distributed so that by default a new category is published, and admin has to unpublish it if desired.

Re:How to give access, an error maybe? - 2005/08/03 05:41 I'm using remository 3.20 beta 3. I entered the data base and changes the 0 by the 1 of the categories in aliro_downloads_containers, the strange is that in the admin remository, the categories was published if you want a temporary admin login to check it, mail me to gibaka@gmail.com
