Removing files - 2010/03/08 08:54 Hi,

As I keep adding files into a container, I have been getting duplicates,
So I deleted the contents of the container and it appears to have deleted the actual files that I had uploaded to the server.

Is this the normal action.

Is there another way of removing the contents of the containers without deleting the actual files.

Regards

John

Re:Removing files - 2010/03/08 22:11 Yes, that is the way it is meant to work. The principle is that you are managing a file repository, and the file and information about it are treated as a unit.

You can delete the database records by going directly to phpMyAdmin or similar. But take care

Re:Removing files - 2010/03/09 18:15 Hi,

Thats very clever, Docman,Phoca and Jdownloads are file systems, but they have the sense the list them in the database and be able to remove them without touching the actual files.
This extension only had the appeal because of its ability to limit downloads, now this does not make up for the fact that I have deleted 7000 pdf files which will take me another week to upload again.

Even some basic documentation could have avoided this, this ext is destined for the bin.
Thanks for reply
