Frontend language in J! 1.5 is always english - 2010/02/25 18:11 Hello all,

I have translated Glossary to Brazilian Portuguese, saving the translation file as brazilian_portuguese.php, as this is the default in Joomla! as well.

The backend language override works, if I type brazilian_portuguese in the field. However, the frontend remains in english.

Editing the english file produces the necessary modifications, which means the frontend language is english, not brazilian portuguese as I have set in Joomla, Glossary and Joomfish.

The worst part is that I need the english language, as the site will become trilingual (english, spanish, portuguese).

Any ideas?

It's been a while since I posted my question and still no answer.
Is Glossary under active development and support?

Re:Frontend language in J! 1.5 is always english - 2010/03/08 14:12 Yes - please review the "Support" section.

That seems odd - pretty much the same code exists for both user and admin. If you'd like to provide me with a temporary super admin login I'll try to find the cause.

Re:Frontend language in J! 1.5 is always english - 2010/03/08 14:41 Hello,

Glad to hear development and support are active!

Unfortunately, the system is under development, in a server without external Web access.

I'm attaching a .doc file with screenshots of the problem.

The only way to enable portuguese in the backend was to set the language override to brazilian_portuguese (I set it to this as it's Joomla!'s default language.).
I'm planning on using Joomfish! as well, an there may be no support, which may be the cause of the problem.

Re:Frontend language in J! 1.5 is always english - 2010/03/08 22:13 I can't really tell much from that. The language SHOULD be automatic, although sometimes Joomla does not provide the correct information. Martin Brampton aka Counterpoint

Re:Frontend language in J! 1.5 is always english - 2010/04/28 14:22 Dear Friend,

I've just copied your file and replaced the portuguese.php native on the folder language-UTF and it works pretty well.

Just to let you know....

Can I use your translation? It's public?

Regards,

abraço,
Felipe Oliveira
